We've just finalized a deal with New England that brings us the Revs' natural 3rd round SuperDraft selection in exchange for an international roster spot. NE will keep that spot until Jan. 1, 2011. We're currently at 6 int'l spots (each US-based team starts at 8 before trades) after sending one to RSL in 2007. We get that one back Jan. 1, 2010. We've got three internationals currently on the roster: midfielder Santiago Hirsig (Argentina), forward Claudio Lopez (Argentina) and midfielder Kevin Souter (Scotland).
As you know, Roger Espinoza is from Honduras, but he has his paperwork and does not count as an international player by League standards. This is the second trade we've done with NE recently after acquiring Adam Cristman (who is nearing return from a broken toe suffered in preseason) last year just prior to Seattle's expansion draft.

Not bad since it doesn't appear we will be using all of our international slots.
